Faith First
Worship, knowledge and remembrance of Allah sit at the centre of our society. We help one another keep faith strong through the demands of student life.
Two decades of brotherhood, sisterhood and faith at the University of Edinburgh.
Founded in 2001, the University of Edinburgh Islamic Society has spent more than two decades supporting Muslim students spiritually, socially and academically. From a small group of students praying together between lectures, we have grown into one of the most active and beloved societies on campus, a genuine family for students arriving from every corner of the world.
We're committed to working hand-in-hand with other societies and communities across campus. At the heart of everything is our weekly socials, held every Tuesday at 5pm at the Chaplaincy, Potterrow, a warm, welcoming get-together that anchors our week and our community.
إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِخْوَةٌ
“The believers are but brothers.”
Qur’an 49:10
Three principles guide everything we do as a society.
Worship, knowledge and remembrance of Allah sit at the centre of our society. We help one another keep faith strong through the demands of student life.
Every background, culture and level of practice is welcome. We are one ummah, and whoever you are, there is a place for you with us.
From charity fundraisers to community volunteering, we strive to give back to Edinburgh and beyond with generosity and sincerity.
